Course Objective The graduated student will fulfill with the following objective

  • Knowledgeable about social development have capability to community development
  • Have knowledge integration and attitude for social and community development which related to social and community administration
  • Have knowledge and capability for strengthening the community and motivate social nd community development

Student Qualification

                      The student qualification have to applied follow by the regulation of Thammasat University ; the graduate regulation of the year 2018 rules 22-23 and have to graduated not less than Bachelor degree from both Domestic and International University which proven by The University Council

 

Student selection regulation

  1. The student have to pass the examination included (1) Social knowledge and specialty subject examination         (2) The Interview examination
  2. The student have to submit TU-GET which organized by The Language Center of Thammasat University or  TOEFL or IELTS (The testing results have not exceed 2 years to the registration date)
  3. 3. For another condition have to apply by the Announcement of the Graduate program , Thammasat University and/or Faculty of Social Administration

 

The estimate tuition fee around 135,000 thb (Installment payment plan by semester)

Knowledge Evaluate Examination

                (1) For the student both plan ก : ก2 and plan ข have to pass the knowledge evaluate examination and the student will have the right to do the examination after pass the required subject 6 subjects (total 18 units) and got the grade point average not less than 3.00

                (2) The programme will open for the knowledge evaluate examination for both writing examination and oral examination 3 times per 1 studying year by Dean of Faculty of Social Administration will appoint the committee of the examination

9 Subject description

CD 611 Critiques on Economy, Social and Politics for Development                                        

            Systematic analysis, methodology, techniques and tools use for conducting critiques on economic, social and political changes in Thailand and worldwide that affect the development of Thai society as well as various policies and development methods.

 

CD 612 Paradigm, Theories and Discourse of Community Development                                  

          Methods on community in terms of paradigm, definition and components of philosophy of community development, mainstream development, alternative development and modern social development concepts under the changes and complexities of society.

 

CD 613 Innovation and Technology for Community Change      

          Meaning, pattern, components of social innovations and concepts, principles, procedures, techniques and tools for using technology to change the community in a way that conforms with the context and social changes. It also includes the systematic search, access, and manage data related to community development through the use of computer programs, media adaptations, public communication that result in community and local empowerment.

 

CD 614 Social and Community Development Policies and Strategies                                       

          Adapting concepts, theories, principles on determining development policies and programs/projects that allow students to have the understanding and skills on analytic techniques for national, local and community development policies. Students will also acquire skills on practical adaptation of policies in a form of programs and projects that are related to the environment, relationship between policies, policy environment, sustainable development programs and projects, organizational administrative, risks management, evaluation, etc.

 

CD 615 Seminar on Special Aspects on Development Works

          Research, analyze, synthesize issues concerning community, society, locality, and propose approaches based on concepts, theories and body of knowledge on related community development that each individual is interested in and present in the seminar under supervision and guidance of the teacher.

 

CD 616 Research Methodologies in Community Development and Ethics

          Methods on finding knowledge, concepts, research ethics, quantitative and qualitative research methods, qualitative research that adapts for development work; source of issue and research questions; research process; planning and research design; research procedure; data accumulation; analysis; data synthesis; and discussion or lesson learned as well as research project administration that takes into account researcher morals and ethics.

 

CD 721 Citizen Rights and Social Movement

          Citizenship, citizen rights, development and social movement trends aiming to preserve and protect one’s rights domestically and internationally; procedures and methods; lessons on social movement for citizen rights protection in various forms.

 

CD 722 Communication for Empowering Community and Development Network                                               

          Theoretical concepts that can be adapt as a guideline for empowering communities to become a support for solving issues and for economic, social, cultural, natural resource and environment development. Empowered communities can also act as development network in and outside of the country, collaboratively engaging in ‘brainstorming, collective action, accumulated learning’ and continue to empower communities to solve issues on their own; roles on people participation in the community and network organization on sustainable development through consensus, group discussions, collective decision-making, negotiation to achieve resolution which are truly a people participation process.

 

CD 731 Managing Biodiversity for Sustainability

          Knowledge and understanding about biodiversity; goals toward sustainable development; policies and strategies related to biodiversity management; changes that affect biodiversity such as disasters and other threats, decline in flora and fauna, utilizing local sources of community members, etc., and roles of communities in managing biodiversity in a sustainable manner.

 

CD 743 Community Social Welfare for Development

          Operation procedures for social work and social welfare in local government, domestic and international, processes, techniques, tools and selection of tools for appropriately operating social works with communities and locals. Such operation is to enable development of quality if life of the local people as well as the ability to adapt to changes and accumulation of resources from public, private and people sectors aim towards sustainable community development and self-management.

 

CD 745 Sustainable City and Urban Development

          Concept, theory and background of city development in various regions in Thailand and globally; urban development dynamics both quality of life and social quality, policies, forms and guidelines on urban development in various countries such as Smart City, Happy City, Strong City, Just City, Inclusive City, etc.; participation from various networks on urban development planning and examples of good and sustainable urban and development planning.

 

CD 746 Community Plan Implementation Process

          Concepts, methods, techniques, tools and processes on community plan drafting and implementation; tools on promoting community learning, community empowerment, empowering community for development, sustainable empowerment and self-reliance as well as integrating community plan with development network.

 

CD 747 Participatory Knowledge Management and Community Research

          Concepts, methods, techniques and tools on cooperative community knowledge management and community research; promoting participatory knowledge management and community research process that can be adapted in community development works for organizations, communities, locals as well as promoting community learning process, knowledge promotion and community strengthening tools that aim toward community of learning.

 

CD 748 Social Psychology for Development

          Concepts and theories on psychology that affect human behavioral development under social context with emphasis on adapting essential concepts and theories such as social awareness and know how, change in attitude, identity and personality; social motivation; social influence; group dynamic; leadership; socialization as well as socially-favored behavior.

 

CD 799 Community Plan Implementation Process

          Student conduct community development work training on his/her own to seek knowledge, skillset and attitude related to community development in the context of social change; interaction with related systems and institutes; and promoting experience on working with various communities and organizations under the supervision of community development experts.

CD 800 Thesis

          Developing research projects and conducting researches that result in body of knowledge related to community development, social development and local development; identifying the importance and source of research problems, purposes, literature review, methodology, result analysis, summary and suggestions as well as bibliography; writing research articles for publication in academic journals or propose research findings at academic meetings; research ethics and research publication.

  

CD 700 Independent Study                                           

Research on a particular topic related to community development, social development and local development in research project format; identifying the importance and source of research problems, purposes, literature review, methodology, result analysis, summary and suggestions as well as bibliography; writing research articles for publication in academic journals or propose research findings at academic meetings; research ethics and research publication.
